Building Christmas from the Ground-Up
2023 has been a whirlwind of a year hasn't it? We can’t believe it’s almost time for Christmas! It fills us with warm and fuzzy feelings just thinking about all the different neighbours who have been with us on this journey. And what better way to wrap up the
year than to ring in the holiday season in the MW Creative Neighbourhood with all you
lovely folks in the community.
Just last year, we set out on a mission to reinvent festive celebrations and embarked on a special project focusing on authenticity, impact, and nature. With that, came our first-ever 'Christmas With Our Trees' initiative, which marked the start of something truly wonderful. And to our delight, our journey was also recognized with the prestigious Singapore Good Design Award, honouring our dedication to sustainable design!
‘Tis the Seeds of Giving
With the encouraging response from the seeds planted during our inaugural efforts, we felt empowered to learn and do more to celebrate our local trees and ecology. We evolved and deepened the narrative to cover more ground, inviting the wider community to share stories and lessons about nature’s growth through the years on our island home and the enduring connection it has in our lives.
17 Nov onwards: The Millenia Walk Seed Tree
To welcome the season, the Millenia Walk Seed Tree returns once more, this time celebrating the multi-layered lifecycle of nature. A remarkable journey of transformation, with each stage carrying its own story and significance. A powerful reminder of nature's resilience and ever-evolving beauty.
Join us as we celebrate the everlasting beauty and timeless impact of our local trees and native plant species at our Christmas tree installation, designed in collaboration with Timber Actually and Charlotte Puxley Flowers.
Nov onwards: Embark on The Neighbourhood Tree Trail
Our commitment to seeding new perspectives and knowledge of our local trees continues, as we engage in valuable discussions with local conservationists, Dr Chua Siew Chin, Senior Lecturer at NUS Department of Biological Sciences, Boo Chih Min, master flora specialist, as well as other fellow environmentalists, Qiyun of the Weird & Wild, Elliot James Ong and GreenCollabSG, deepening our understanding and appreciation for our local ecology.

Our expedition takes a captivating turn as we branch out to realms of architecture, art and product design for Christmas with Our Trees this season. We could not be more excited to welcome Marcus Yang and Milon Goh of MM, as well as Dawn Ang (aka Aeropalmics) and plantable soywax candles, Pass It On reveal more about their interactions with our local trees and how it has shaped their practice, ethos and perspective on our natural landscape.

Our MW neighbours – Commune, OVAS and Flower Matters, also joins us as the fourth station in the trail, where they set the Christmas party table for everyone in the neighbourhood while showcasing a variety of eco-friendly wares and practices.

03 – Promises Made, Promises Kept
Bring home a set of exclusive modular ‘seed’ shelves made from local salvaged wood with $3500 spend. This is part of our ongoing waste-reduction efforts to repurpose the materials from our tree installation. Collection starts from March 2024. While stocks last.
04 – Into the Forest
Be transported deep into the Alpine forest with limited edition plantable candles by Pass It On for the season's top spenders. Winners will be notified once the campaign ends.
